Anatomy of Me

A while ago my mum was telling me some cool little facts about my family, who I look like, who my great grandparents were and things like that, and it gave me this idea to find out why I look the way that I do, and if there's any interesting stories behind some of my features.
I haven't seen anybody else do this so far, I did do my research, so I hope I'm starting a pretty cool tag. This is going to be the 'Anatomy of Me' tag, and it'll hopefully encourage people to find out why they have certain features and where they come from! I'm focusing solely on the face because I don't think it wise for people to be posting pictures of different body parts onto the internet so we'll keep this focused on the face!

First things first, HAIR!
I've always had naturally straight hair, and I've always hated it. I've forever wanted curly hair but I am learning to accept my straight locks!
My mum told me I have the exact same natural hair colour as my grandmother. I have actually had it coloured to make it lighter recently so this picture isn't my natural hair, but it's essentially that awkward colour that isn't quite brown but isn't quite blonde. But I find it cool that it's the exact same shade as one of my grandparents!

Next, EYES!
I'm aware I look a little crazy in this photo but I was trying to open my eye as wide as possible and couldn't seem to get my camera to focus so it isn't the best picture!
My eyes have always been the smallest feature on my face. I have quite a long face, long nose and massive toothy grin, so my eyes have always seemed small compared to the rest of me. I always wore eye-liner when I was in school to make my eyes seem bigger, luckily I managed to get away with it!
My eyes have always been the feature that I liked more than the others. Regardless of them being quite small, I love the colour. I have green eyes and am the only person in my immediate family who has them, all the rest have blue! I think even all my grandparents have blue. It's a very subtle green and they do have blue flecks in them, but if I wear purple/gold eyeshadow, or the sun shines directly in them, it really brings the green out.
I also had a friend in high school who called me Island Eyes because my eyes are so light, it means the ring of brown around my pupil is very noticeable, and it also has a yellow outline which apparently made it look like a beach and the ocean!
So yeah I think it's pretty cool they're the only green eyes in the family. It makes me curious about which past family member I've got them from!

NOSE!
There is actually quite a ridiculous story about my nose. It's always been that slightly too long for my face size, but when I was younger it was that flat ski slope kind of nose, whereas now it has a bump in the bridge.
When I was younger, I went swimming with a few of my friends and we were in the baby pool. Like the silly idiot I am, I was showing off doing fancy surface dives which is essentially where you bob yourself down under the water. Getting a bit too excited, I did a surface dive, pushed myself way too far down, and smashed my nose into the bottom of the pool.
When I resurfaced I put my hands to my nose and thought I'd just bruised it and waited for the pain to stop, but then when I pulled my hands away, they were covered in blood and the water surrounding me started to turn red! After that everyone was screaming at the blood in the pool and I just tried my hardest to pull myself out! Needless to say it was a bit of a mess. I was taken into the first aid room and spent about half an hour waiting for the blood to stop pouring out!
I don't think I broke it but I think I definitely either fractured or cracked it because since then I've had this lump so I'm not sure it healed in the right way. I can also move the bone from side to side and crack my nose which is a pretty cool but gross party trick I sometimes like to freak my friends out with!
So yeah my nose isn't exactly my favourite feature of my face. I was bullied for it when I was younger and still get some jokes made to me now even at the age of 20! But there's nothing I can do about it, it's just part of my face so I'm learning to accept it and not take any rubbish from people who think it's something they can make jokes about!

Finally, SMILE!
Since before I can remember I've always been told I had a massive cheeky smile. There's pictures of me and my sister from when we were younger, and she's always stood there with a coy smile like she's got a secret to keep, and I've always got a massive cheeky cheesy grin on my face!
I'm quite lucky with my teeth because according to my mum I drank 8 pints of milk a day when I was younger, and my teeth have essentially become as hard as rocks because of it. My dentist basically said they will never decay (touch wood), which is pretty awesome!
I've also never had a brace but I am considering getting one as I have so many teeth and not enough room so they're starting to gather!
I also have what I call nashers. My two front teeth have always been pretty big and it did used to get me down, but then I just associate myself with Hermione Granger and that makes me feel better!

So that's my tag! I think it's a pretty awesome thing to go to your parents and find out why you look the way you do and who in your family you look like. It also makes me feel a lot better whenever I'm getting down about my appearance, I think of all the cool things that make it up and it instantly makes me feel better. I think it's a great trick to have!
So I'm not tagging anyone specifically in this because I'm not sure exactly who I would tag, but if you liked this idea please feel free to join in and do your own 'anatomy of me'!
Just please link back to this post if you do.
Let me know in the comments if you liked this idea and what cool traits your family has!

  5. This is such an original and very intriguing idea for a tag - it was a pleasure to read.

I must say that your eye liner is on point! I'm unable to achieve anything that doesn't make me resemble a panda, so I'm rather jealous.
