My Sister's Birthday - Makeup Look

Normally, I only do fancy make-up for special occasions. My basic every day make-up is extremely minimal, and I also tend to stick to the same dark smokey eye when I dress up.
So, for my sister's birthday in mid-april, I decided to branch out and really make some effort with my make-up! A couple weeks before I purchased my first ever piece of high end make-up, which was an Urban Decay eyeshadow palette. So I thought I'd test it out and try a different look!

 Face Make-Up:
Rimmel London Match Perfection Foundation - 100 Ivory
Real Techniques Expert Face Brush
Rimmel London Stay Matte Powder - 003 Peach Glow
Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer - 1 Fair
Benefit Pore-fessional Primer
No7 Directional Powder Brush
Gold by Giles Lipgloss (No colour name)

Eye Make-Up:
Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer - Sin
Urban Decay Naked 2 Eyeshadow Palette
Collection Fast Stroke Eyeliner
Maxfactor Masterpiece Mascara - Rich Black
(Eyeshadow brushes have no name - Left one is out of a Fearne Cotton gift set, Right one is from Bodycare)

I've said before I don't really like wearing heavy foundation on my skin, and that is still very much the case. My everyday make-up doesn't include a foundation and only rarely includes a bb cream, but as this was a special occasion and I planned to get quite dressed up, I decided to include a foundation. A couple weeks ago I also decided to purchase a foundation brush to see if I ended up with a smoother finish, so I purchased the Real Techniques expert face brush! I've only used it a couple times and I do want to try it out with new foundations as the one I have is quite old and should probably be thrown away by now, but so far I'm liking the effect the brush has! It's very easy to use applying the Match Perfection Foundation and it gives quite a good coverage. I applied and blended this all over my face and down to my neck!
(Oh! I forgot to say as well that before I applied my foundation I blended the Benefit Pore-fessional Primer around my nose and on my chin!)

It was then time to test out the Naked 2 palette!
This is not the kind of make-up that I can usually afford on a regular basis! The Urban Decay eyeshadow palette's are £38! Normally, I wouldn't even look twice at a price like this, but I actually had a £20 Debenhams voucher off my Dad, which meant I got the palette for £18. For me, £18 is still a lot of money, but it was the first treat in a long time and it's the first piece of high end make-up I own.
To start off with, I took the brush that comes with the palette and used the smaller side to apply the colour Chopper all over my lid. I then used the brush from the Fearne Cotton set and applied the colour Busted in my crease. Then using the larger side of the urban decay brush, I used the colour YDK to blend the two together and take the harsh line off the outer edge.
This was my first attempt at blending these eyeshadows and I'm not sure I picked the best colours to blend together, but they did blend very easily and you can build colours as you go along!

Then it was time for eye-liner! If I'm dressing up or going somewhere nice I always have to include eye-liner in my look. I gently pull my eyelashes down and start from the inside of my eye, slowly dabbing the eye-liner along my lash line and then going over the top in one swift motion to even it out. I usually struggle to get the flicks the same but I've actually been doing quite well recently!

No look is complete without mascara! I've used the Maxfactor Masterpeice mascara for years and I keep going back to it because it's just so good. I've actually had compliments on my eyelashes when I've been wearing this mascara before!

I then used the Lasting Perfection Concealer around my nose and wherever I had a spot to cover up. Using the colour Busted from the urban decay palette and my Bodycare eyeshadow brush, I then lightly topped up my eyebrows! This colour is actually quite dark for me so once I had applied it I gently dabbed them with a wet wipe to remove any excess and to make them look more natural.
Then to finish the look I applied the Stay Matte powder all over my face! I use this powder daily, sometimes on it's own if I just want a tiny bit of coverage for running to the shop or something like that. I then added a pink lipgloss to my lips for a shiny effect and a bit of colour!

And this is the finished look!
I really did love using the Urban Decay Naked 2 palette, the colours are so easy to blend and are all beautiful! I love using the gold colours, they really go with my green eyes and make them stand out so much more. I am obviously very happy with getting it cheaper using a gift voucher but I do think it is one of those things that saving your money for is worth! If you're really into make-up, (as I'm slowly becoming), then treating yourself occasionally is definitely worth it!

Let me know in the comments if you like this look and what your favourite make-up pieces are!
