Very Good Lives by JK Rowling | Book Recommendation

Anyone who knows me will know that I adore Harry Potter. It is my favourite book series of all time, and because of that, I will pretty much buy anything JK Rowling writes or creates, purely because she is such an inspiration to me. I was scrolling through amazon when I saw that JK Rowling was releasing something new. Of course, I clicked that pre-order button and a few months later a package came through the post!

I hadn’t realised when I pre-ordered this that it isn’t actually a book, it’s a speech! Rowling gave a speech to the graduates at Harvard University in 2008, which was so well received that it’s now been published in book form! It’s only around 70 pages long and well worth a read!
She basically discusses two different subjects; The Benefits of Failure and The Importance of Imagination.
She talks about how failing gave her the drive to pursue writing Harry Potter, and how imagination is important, not just in creating fantastical worlds, but in empathising and helping others. I don’t want to say much more otherwise I’ll just be telling you the entirety of the speech, so please pleeeaase give this a read! It’s so inspirational and though-provoking and actually, if you’re not into reading, I’m pretty sure there’s a clip of the speech on youtube!
I honestly cannot recommend this enough and I will continue to forever be inspired by this brilliant woman!
Please let me know in the comments if you’ve read it and what you think!
