My Holiday Essentials

I'm going on holiday soon and it's finally getting to the point where I can start thinking about what I want to take with me! I always take far more than I actually need to but I thought I would share some of my holiday essentials that are a must for when lounging around in the sun!

A Bikini/Swimsuit
I bought this navy blue bikini from Primark for my holiday to Egypt last year and it's still my favourite one. I love that it's bright pink on the inside, I think it just adds something extra to such a simple bikini! I always go for a bikini where I can remove the top straps as well as I hate having tan lines, but sometimes in the pool you need that extra support of straps!

Urban Decay Naked 2 Eyeshadow Palette
This is quite a big eyeshadow palette so it's not great for fitting into your everyday make-up bag, but I don't fancy carting loads of make-up around with me, so I figured this would be perfect to take with me as it has every colour I could want on holiday! I can do smokey eyes for night time dinners and be more natural with a gold eye during the day!
I've done quite a few different make-up looks using this palette so if you want you can check them out, HERE, HERE and HERE!

Sea Salt Spray
I went through a phase where I used this every day and I loved it. I use this one from Toni&Guy and it's just brilliant. It adds so much texture to your hair and really gives you that beach look! I always take one of these on holiday with me because I want to be as lazy as possible when it comes to spending time on my hair and make-up, so spraying this in only takes me 2 minutes and then I can be down by the pool enjoying the sun!

This is of course an absolute necessity when going out in the sun. I always take quite a high factor because I have quite sensitive skin and I burn very easily which is the last thing you want on holiday!

BB Cream
When I go on holiday, I don't want to cake my face in make-up because you just end up sweating it off and it doesn't feel nice to have clammy make-up all over your face in the heat. So, I use a BB Cream! I have the Rimmel London Radiance BB Cream in the colour Light and I love it. I use this purely on it's own and it gives good coverage without feeling too sticky or thick. I'm not comfortable enough to wander around the pool and beach barefaced so something like this is perfect for having a bit of coverage!

Again, this is an absolute must. Your skin can dry out very quickly in heat and it's not a great feeling so I always make sure I have a good moisturiser.  I use the No7 Beautiful Skin Day Cream for Dry/Very Dry Skin. Ever since I went on tablets for my acne when I was a teenager, I have had extremely dry skin so a strong moisturiser is a definite essential for me!

Waterproof Mascara
Like I said before I don't feel entirely comfortable going down to the pool/beach barefaced, so I also use a waterproof mascara. I bought this one from Body Care for £2 as I didn't want to get a really expensive one just to use on holiday so fingers crossed this works well!

Another absolute must for keeping healthy in the sun! I recently purchased these prescription sunglasses and it's one of the best things I've done. Last year when I was in Egypt, I couldn't wear my glasses with my sunglasses and you can't go swimming in contact lenses, so I just had to wear my sunglasses and not actually be able to see that much so this year I made sure I had prescription sunglasses and I am so excited to wear them!

Let me know in the comments what your holiday essentials are and if you've jetted off on holiday at all this year, let me know where you've been!

  3. Sunscreen is such an essential for me. Even though the sun is nowhere near as harsh as it is in Australia, still I can't help but be overly paranoid

    1. I'm the same! Even in England the minute we get any sun I'm caking myself in it! :) Safety first! xxx

  4. I have the Naked 2 palette as well! I think it's really good for taking away with you because it's so versatile!
