Greece | Part Two

Halfway through the holiday we decided to wanted to get out of the hotel a bit more, so we booked ourselves onto two more excursions. The first was a trip to Paradise Beach. All you paid for was the transfer from your hotel to the beach and back, and then you were free to enjoy the day however you wanted. Paradise Beach, as you can probably guess from the name, is famous in Kos for its sandy beach and beautiful sea, however, it's also sometimes referred to as Bubble Bay! I'm not 100% sure on the facts, but I think the seabed either rests near or as part of a volcano, and volcanic gases rise up through the seabed and into the sea, creating little pockets where bubbles break out and float up to the surface. It is amazing! If you swim out to where the a large amount of pockets are it feels like you're swimming through a natural jacuzzi because the water is warm from the volcano. I honestly could have stayed there all day!
Paradise Beach also has an inflatable water park in the sea and a watersports centre, which we did consider doing but with it being a tourist place it was ridiculously expensive. But we had an incredible day sunbathing, swimming through bubble bay and having a drink in the beachside bars!

We then booked ourselves onto our last excursion of the holiday, an island hopping cruise! We got onto this gorgeous little boat around 9 in the morning and it took us to some neighbouring islands around Kos. The first one you go to is the Island of Pserimos, which is famous for its sponge diving. We used this stop as an opportunity to have a drink and admire the view! They then took us to a little village on a different Island (which I unfortunately can't remember the name of), where we treated ourselves to an ice-cream and had a stroll around the town, before moving onto our final destination, the island of Plati! This wasn't an island as such, it wasn't inhabited, more of a massive rock! They pulled the boat up as close as they could to the island, and then told us to either jump directly off the boat into the sea, or we could climb down the steps. The surrounding sea basically does not  get shallow at all, and it's deep enough so that you can climb up to a certain part of the island to jump straight off into the sea. I didn't do this jump because it was waaaay too big for me, but I did jump off the boat and have a bit of a snorkel!
They also took us out to a part of the sea where it's common to sea dolphins, which we did, and I loved it! The crew were amazing, providing us with a bbq lunch and a lot of laughs along the way. The captain even had everyone up dancing at one point. I honestly recommend taking this cruise if you ever go to Kos. It was a brilliant day out and really adds something active and fun to your holiday!

Make sure to check back in for the third and final part of my holiday to Greece on Sunday. I still have a few pictures I want to share!

  8. Greece is truly beautiful. I am gutted I didn't have a chance to try out snorkeling while I was there. Beautiful photos! Especially underwater ones :) I actually love taking these type of excursions during trips, as I am not very fond of just sitting in the beach all holiday. And taking excursions gives you a perfect opportunity to explore the country more and meet wonderful people :)
