Autumn Make-Up

As I listed in my Autumn post, one of my favourite things about autumn is the make-up. As much as I love natural make-up and light pretty colours, I am definitely a dark lip, smokey eye kind of girl! So, I thought I would share with you guys the kind of make-up that I would wear as an autumn day time look. I recently purchased some new bits as well so I'm looking forward to experimenting with them!

(apologies in advance for the blurry-ish pictures, my camera did not want to co-operate)
Face Make-Up
Benefit The PoreFessional Primer
Rimmel London Radiance BB Cream - Light
Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer - Light
Rimmel London Stay Matte Powder - 003 Peach Glow
Sleek Contouring & Blush Palette  - Light 373
Real Techniques Expert Face Brush
No7 Powder Brush
Rimmel London 'The Only 1' Lipstick - 800 Under My Spell

Eye Make-Up
Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer - Sin Champagne Shimmer
Urban Decay Naked 2 Eyeshadow Palette
Maxfactor Masterpiece Mascara - Rich Black
Seventeen Make Your Mark Precision Eyeliner Pen - Blackest Black
No7 Stay Perfect Amazing Eyes Pencil - Black

I started off by priming my face with the Benefit Porefessional Primer. I've found that the trick with this is to apply it very lightly. When I first got it, I used WAY too much and it ended up making my foundation go really cakey and horrible, but if you use it sparingly it does work wonders at keeping your make-up in place for longer!
I then applied the Rimmel London BB Cream all over my face using the Real Techniques Expert Face Brush. It really depends on my day to day mood on whether I wear a foundation or a BB Cream, and today I felt like I wanted a light and natural coverage that wasn't particularly too heavy, so I opted for the BB Cream. If you want 100% coverage, I wouldn't say this BB Cream is for you, but for those days where my skin is doing better than usual, I love this product for brightening up my skin!
Once that was blended, I used my Collection Lasting Perfection concealer under my eyes, around my nose, and on any blemishes that were still showing. I think I've mentioned this concealer enough now to show that I love it. I use it in pretty much every make-up look I do, and I honestly could not go a day without it. It just covers so well and brightens my annoying dark under eye circles!

I would always recommend using an eyeshadow primer for your eyes, it just makes the colour last so much longer and reduces creasing. The one I use is the Urban Decay Sin Champagne Shimmer. I've spoke about this many times before in my other make-up looks because it's just wonderful. I got this as a free sample when I purchased the eye-shadow palette and I will be purchasing the full product when my sample runs out! It honestly makes your eyeshadow look flawless and I use this right up to my eyebrow so the shimmer can act as a highlight on the brow bone.

I knew for this look that I wanted to go darker than usual but I didn't want to go all out with a black smokey eye, so I used the colour YDK from the Urban Decay Naked 2 palette and put this all over my lid and in my crease. As you can see from the first photo, my trick with eyeshadow is to literally just slop it all on as messy as you like to begin with, and then save the day with blending! I used to have no idea how to blend and I thought it was too difficult and that I would never be able to do it. All you need is a decent fluffy brush and you're good to go. I just swish my brush around in circular movements and keep going until there is no longer a harsh line!

I then wanted to add a bit of shape to my eye, so I took the colour Tease and placed this solely in the crease of my eye. Again, I put this on quite quickly, and then blended it out to make a nice subtle colour. You could add more of this to make your eyes look a lot darker if that's what you'd prefer but I thought I'd stick to a more subtle eye as the lips were going to be the main focus of this look!

I used to swear by this gel eye-liner that I had until I finally discovered felt tip liners! If you use a brush or a liquid applicator, try a felt tip one! They are so incredibly easy to use and it makes doing my eye-liner 10 times faster. The one I have is a Seventeen one and it's not the best but it does the job! It takes a while for me to build the colour but the shape of the nib is perfect for doing a cat flick. I then added the No7 pencil liner to my bottom water line!

I know you guys are probably bored of me using the same products in my make-up looks, but I just love them so much that I see no reason to change! I've used the Maxfactor Masterpiece mascara for years and it has never let me down! I applied a few coats of this to my lashes and then powdered my face using the Rimmell Stay Matte powder and my No7 Brush!

I decided the other day that I wanted to branch out a bit with my face makeup, because usually I just stick to concealer and powder, and I ended up purchasing this Sleek Contouring & Blush palette!
If you are anything like me and have absolutely no idea what to do when it comes to contouring and blush/highlight, invest in this palette! Not only are the colours absolutely gorgeous, it's so easy to use. I didn't use the contour colour for this look as I was focusing solely on brightening my face with the blush/highlight, so I went straight onto them. The blush looks really dark and terrifying to use, but it's so easy to build. I used my No7 powder brush and just swished this around on the apples of my cheeks, and it's so subtle that you can build as much as you want.
Even though I adore the blush, the highlight is my favourite. I added one application of this and my cheeks were glowing! It managed to make me look like I knew exactly what I was doing with make-up when in actual fact I'd just slopped it onto my cheek and hoped for the best!

Now for the main bit! All of the lipsticks I own tend to be just different shades of red and I really wanted a darker, more berry colour, so I went on the hunt and found this. As much as I adore the colour, I am not a huge fan of the applicator itself. It doesn't have a tip and for lipstick rookies like me this made it so much harder to apply. I would definitely recommend applying this using a brush and I would line my lips first. Otherwise it has the potential to literally go everywhere and it did take me quite a while to get this right. Other than that I absolutely adore the colour of this lipstick and it felt so moisturising!

I feel like I made a lot of leaps into the world of make-up with this look, purchasing my first ever contour kit and trying out a darker lip colour. I'm having a shopping and lunch day with my friend soon so I think this will be a lovely makeup look to wear on the day!
Let me know in the comments if you like this look and whether you've tried any of the products mentioned!
