Cruelty Free Beauty Haul

A little while ago, I stumbled across a blog post that listed all, or as many as possible, of the makeup brands that weren't 100% cruelty free, in that they either sold their products in China, where animal testing is required, or they were owned by a parent company who did the same. Since discovering that post, I've tried to do as much research as I can on makeup brands that are cruelty free, and gradually change my makeup bag to consisting of only cruelty free products. This is actually more difficult than it seems, as a lot of people say different things! I tried my best to go for brands that either state they are cruelty free on their websites, or multiple animal rights sites state that they are.
I looked up a lot of reviews on each of these products so fingers crossed they all work on my skin!

BARRY M FLAWLESS ORIGINAL PRIMER
I've been wanting a new primer for a while now as I'm currently using the Benefit Porefessional on my t-zone but I wanted a primer that would work well on my entire face. I picked up the original primer rather than the other two they had which were 'colour correcting' and 'brightening' as I think this one had the most positive reviews. I've used it a few times now and I really like it. It doesn't necessarily last all day and my makeup still goes quite patchy around my t-zone but I do think that's down to the fact that I have combination skin and my t-zone gets quite oily. On my cheeks however the makeup pretty much stays perfect all day!

NARS SHEER GLOW FOUNDATION - MONT BLANC
*UPDATE - unsure as to whether Nars is still completely cruelty free!*
I have heard nothing but love for this foundation so I finally bit the bullet and decided to give it a go. It definitely didn't disappoint as I tried this the other day and I loved the coverage and how dewy it looked on my skin. I preferred applying it with my fingers instead of a brush which I wasn't expecting, most people would apply this with a brush but I just felt like I got a more even coverage using my fingers. I also think I may have bought it in the wrong shade which is frustrating as it's definitely not a cheap foundation!

COLLECTION LASTING PERFECTION CONCEALER - 1 FAIR
I've been buying this concealer for years so this wasn't a new purchase. It provides such good coverage that some times I just wear this as a foundation in itself. Couldn't recommend this enough!

COLLECTION EYE BROW KIT - BLONDE
I've never really done anything to my eyebrows but I'd like to give filling them in a little bit a go, so I purchased this kit! I really like this product. It comes with a good angled brush for applying the colour and a gel to set them in place afterwards. I mix the lightest colour and the medium colour together and it's just been working really well for me!

SOAP AND GLORY ONE HECK OF A BLOT POWDER - TRANSLUCENT
I used to swear by the Rimmel Stay Matte powder, but as Rimmel isn't considered cruelty free, I decided to go for this soap and glory powder! I haven't used this properly yet, I just sort of swished it around my t-zone really quickly before university one day last week and it seemed to work well. I had to top up again halfway through the day but my skin is super oily so that was no surprise. I'll have to use this properly before I can decide whether I really like it or not!

SLEEK I-DIVINE EYESHADOW PALETTE - VINTAGE ROMANCE 141
I really want to try out some pink/purple eyeshadow looks and this palette looked perfect! It's also got lots of golds for when I want a more natural look so I'm super excited to try this. I do love my Naked palette though so we'll have to see if this is as good!

SOAP AND GLORY SUPERCAT EXTREME EYELINER PEN - CARBON BLACK
I finally discovered eyeliner pens a while back and now I can't ever see myself going back to liquid eyeliner! I tried this the other day and loved it. It was so easy to apply, the colour came out perfectly with no streaks and no need to constantly go back over the same spot to achieve full colour!

COLLECTION LENGTHENING MASCARA - ULTRA BLACK 17
When I first used this I wasn't that impressed as it definitely wasn't as good as my beloved maxfactor. But as I've used it more and more I'm starting to actually like it. I love the applicator, it's plastic and straight and super easy to use. It doesn't really give a full eyelash look but it definitely does lengthen them so if you're someone who prefers a more natural eyelash look this is definitely a mascara to check out, especially given how cheap it is!

What cruelty free products do you use?

  2. I understand how hard it is to know if a brand is really cruelty-free or not. Most of the time we find different information on the internet so it's really confusing.
Thanks for sharing the brands. ;)
