2016 Goals | Where I'm At

Back in January I posted a blog called 5 Things I Want To Achieve In 2016, where I reviewed my bucket list from last year and gave myself some new goals to work towards for this year. Given that we're now in april, I figured it was about time I reviewed these goals and checked how I'm getting on!

My first goal for the year was kind of a cheat goal. It was to visit the Harry Potter studios in London and the reason this was a cheat goal was because I had tickets booked to go for the end of January. I know that shouldn't really count but I had it on my bucket list for last year and I never completed it so I wanted to include it in this years goals to make me feel like I had ticked that off my list! I did a whole post on my visit there which you can read HERE if you want to!
I'm doing pretty rubbish with my goal to learn a new instrument... I don't think I've even picked up my ukulele yet! I still maintain that it's because it currently has crappy strings but I guess that's no excuse for why I haven't picked up my guitar. Even if I only practise for one hour a week I'll be happy. Definitely need to work on this one!
I feel quite confident that I'll finish my patchwork quilt by the end of the year! My gran is knitting it with me and together we've done quite a lot. It's really relaxing to knit a square whilst watching some telly in the evening so fingers crossed that I stay on track with this one!
This is the one that I want to achieve the most and yet is also the one that I feel like I'm struggling with. You all know this as I've mentioned it numerous times on my blog, but I am an aspiring writer. I wanted to complete 30,000 words of a novel by the end of the year, but I haven't been happy with my plot idea and I keep changing the story and the characters so to be honest I'm really struggling with actually writing it. I feel like I have a grip on the basis of my idea now and I just need to figure out where I want the plot to go so hopefully I'll be able to get on the way with actually writing it. I think I'll see how much I've written by summer and then maybe think of shortening down my goal!
I keep saying every month that I'm reading really slowly and that's definitely true! So far I've only been reading one book a month. BUT it's because I wasn't crazy keen on the series I was reading but now I'm re-reading the Harry Potters so it's time to fall in love with reading again! I feel more confident now that I'm onto my second reading goal and I'm positive I will fly through this series like I always do!

I feel like I'm making slow progress with my goals, I just need to keep working at it and find the time to really get going on them all! Let me know in the comments how you're doing with your goals for 2016 and whether you think you're on track or not!

  1. Hi! I just wanted to let you know that I nominated you for the Liebster Award on my blog! :) I love your blog! You can find the questions I asked you here
I hope you decide to participate :)
    xx Nichole

    1. Aw thank you! I did a post for the Liebster Award last year but thank you so much for choosing my blog, I'm so glad you like it :) xxx

  2. I'm really rooting for you for your novel, seems like a daunting task but it's definitely reachable! I think I'm going to set a list of 5 main goals, and try to complete them. Sounds like fun! xo

    1. Thank you so much! It definitely keeps me motivated when I hear people say that :) I can't wait to hear about them on your blog! xxx

  3. You say you're making slow progress but you are making progress and that is awesome! To write so much of a novel is a huge undertaking and you're sticking to it. It's more important that you are happy with it and proud of your work at the end of it even if takes a little bit longer than rushing it for the sake of ticking a box. Well done on all five goals!

    1. It's taken me a while to realise it but I definitely agree, I'd rather it take me years and be happy with it than force something that's rubbish! Thank you for being so motivating! :) xxx

  4. Great post and sounds like you are doing fairly well with your goals, and you still have 8 months! I'm going to the Harry Potter studio tour in July and I'm so excited! xx

    1. Thank you! It's absolutely amazing you're gonna have so much fun! :) xxx

  5. It's lovely to hear how your getting on with your goals, keep up with the good work and I'm sure you'll achieve them even the one about learning to play an instrument!
