How To Stay Productive On A Bad Day

We all have those days where we wake up on the wrong side of the bed. Sometimes we aren't feeling our best and the thought of all the things we have to do that day can become quite overwhelming. It's completely normal to have days like this but I thought I would share a few tips that help me combat the days where my motivation just flies out of the window.

SHOWER
It may seem obvious, but something as simple as cleaning your body can recharge your batteries and make you feel ten times better. It's never a good idea to stay in the pyjamas you slept in, you'll feel groggy and that will probably make you want to climb straight back into bed. Just a quick 5 minute shower and some clean clothes will give you a fresh mind and make it a lot easier to tackle the days tasks head on.

WRITE DOWN THE 3 MOST IMPORTANT THINGS YOU NEED TO DO
I am rubbish at writing to do lists. I always jack pack it full of too many things that I want to get done, which only results in me feeling overwhelmed and achieving nothing. Instead, try and write down just three things. Focus on the most important things you need to do that day so that instead of staring at a list of never-ending tasks, you can focus your energy more precisely. Plus if you end up completing them by midday there's nothing to stop you writing three new things to do in the afternoon!

TIDY UP
I cannot concentrate in mess. It's strange because I was such a messy teenager, but nowadays everything needs to be either put away or organised in some manner for me to be able to get anything done. Clearing up your environment can help to clear your mind and allow you to focus on what you need to get done rather than the mess that's getting in your way!

TELL YOURSELF POSITIVE THINGS
If I wake up and instantly tell myself that there's no way I'm going to be able to accomplish everything I need to do that day, then I'm subconsciously setting myself up for failure. Instead of thinking negatively about the things you need to do, tell yourself that today is going to be awesome. You're going to get everything done and have time for everything else you want to do. Negative thinking will only create a negative day.

REWARD YOURSELF
If you tick off a task on your to do list, reward yourself for it! Have that cup of tea and biscuit you've been craving all morning. Rewarding yourself with things you like will only add to your happiness and motivate you to continue getting everything done!

How do you keep yourself motivated on a bad day?

  6. I wish I had the flexibility to use these tips, unfortunately the 9-5 doesn't allow for it! This is great advice though 😊
