How To Stay Productive On A Bad Day

We all have those days where we wake up on the wrong side of the bed. Sometimes we aren't feeling our best and the thought of the million and one things we have to do that day become overwhelming and all we want to do is crawl back underneath the covers. It's completely normal to have days like this but I thought I would share a few tips to combat the days where our motivation just flies out the window!

SHOWER
It may seem obvious, but something as simple as cleaning your body can recharge your batteries and make you feel ten times better. The worst thing you can do is stay in the pyjamas you slept in, you'll feel groggy and that will probably make you want to climb straight back into bed. Just a quick 5 minute shower and clean clothes will give you a fresh mind and make it a lot easier to tackle the days tasks head on!

WRITE DOWN THE 3 MOST IMPORTANT THINGS YOU NEED TO DO
I am the worst when it comes to writing to do lists. I write one every day, but I jam pack it full of absolutely everything that I need/want to get done that day and I just end up becoming overwhelmed and not completing any of it. Write down the 3 main things that you want to achieve that day, whether that be getting in a workout, writing a blog post or taking the dog out for a walk. Focusing on 3 will help you accomplish them far more easily than staring at a list full of endless tasks. Plus if you end up completing them by mid day there's nothing to stop you writing 3 new things to do in the afternoon!

TIDY UP
I physically cannot concentrate in mess. It's weird because I was such a messy teenager, but nowadays everything needs to be either put away or organised in some manner for me to be able to get anything done. If your desk is full of old food wrappers, random notes or littered with pens, chuck all that away! Clearing up your environment can help to clear your mind and allow you to focus on what you need to get done rather than the mess that's getting in your way!

STOP THINKING NEGATIVELY
If I wake up and instantly tell myself that there's no way I'm going to be able to accomplish every thing I need to do that day, then I'm subconsciously setting myself up for failure. Instead of thinking negatively about the things you need to do, tell yourself today is going to be awesome. You're going to get everything done and have time for everything else you want to do. Negative thinking will only create a negative day and no one wants that!

REWARD YOURSELF
If you tick off a task on your to do list, reward yourself for it! Take a break and have that cup of tea and biscuit you've been craving all morning. Rewarding yourself with things you like will only add to your happiness and motivate you to continue getting everything done!

Let me know in the comments some of the things you do to keep yourself motivated on bad days and whether we do the same things or not!

  6. I wish I had the flexibility to use these tips, unfortunately the 9-5 doesn't allow for it! This is great advice though 😊

  7. Love these! I always find tidying clears my head too, I feel instantly more relaxed if I'm in a clean organised enviroment - having a treat at the end of the day to look forward to always helps too! x
