September | 2016

We're finally in autumn and I am so bloomin' happy about that! I try and make the most of summer but to be honest me and heat just don't mix so I'm very excited for the colder months. I've got halloween, bonfire night, my birthday and christmas to look forward to so I'm taking this as a new start, I definitely need one after the past few months!

BOOKS
I've done quite well for reading this month. I read On The Other Side by Carrie Hope Fletcher and I'm currently re-reading Noughts and Crosses by Malorie Blackman. This is quite a famous book and I actually read this years ago in high school and really enjoyed it, but I never continued on with the series so I made it one of my reading goals this year to complete it and I feel well on my way to doing that!

BEAUTY/SKINCARE
As I mentioned in my acne post, my skin is pretty bad right now. The only thing that is currently making a difference is the La Roche Posay Effaclar Duo. There's been a lot of hype about this product in the blogging world so I decided to try it out myself and it's definitely now a staple product. My skin is far from being perfect and I'll be seeing the dermatologist in October but for now, this product is the one making the most difference for me!

MUSIC
This month has been all about musicals. Every time I'm home alone I stick on a musicals playlist on youtube and belt out every song I know, it's so much fun! Also I seem to have become randomly obsessed with the soundtrack to the film Thumbelina?! I've always loved the film but for some reason the soundtrack has been on repeat a lot recently!

FILMS
I went to see Suicide Squad this month and honestly... I loved it! I had such low expectations because of the amount of hate I've heard towards it but I actually thought it was really good. I know a lot of people complained that there wasn't enough of the joker in it, but it's not his film! It's a film about the suicide squad and he's not in that so why would he be loads of the film?! And as for the whole wacky side of it, I really liked that. The whole styling around the film is crazy and not your typical superhero film and I think everything went really well together. Of course Deadshot and Harley Quinn were my favourite characters throughout! The only thing that annoyed me a little bit was how they had blatantly tailored the script towards there being a sequel. I mean I have no issue with there being another suicide squad film, but I wanted some sort of finality to the story! Aside from that, I loved it, and I would urge anyone who hasn't seen it because of the bad press to go and see it for yourself! After all it's just peoples opinions!

LIFE
I probably don't need to go into how life is right now, given how much I've already spoken about it on this blog. Day to day, it's still pretty difficult but I feel like I'm making some progress. I'm doing everything I can to keep myself busy. Working on this blog, writing, and starting my second year of university this month has kept me distracted and moving forward. I also have a dermatologist appointment booked to hopefully sort out my skin and I finally took the plunge and saw my doctor about an issue I've been having for a while, so I'm getting there. I feel like I have a stronger grip on things now so I hopefully the rest of this year gets better for me.

GOALS
I have been making quite slow progress with my goals, but I'm okay with that. I think given everything that's happened this year, I'm allowing myself some leniency and I'm just going to do the best I can with them before the year is up! Reading's going well, writing not so much. Learning a new instrument is probably a no go to be honest, so I'll probably focus on doing the best I can with the other three!

  2. Hey, making some progress is great! I feel like autumn is also a mentally messed-up season when it starts because it hits a lot of us that the year is almost over. But you're juggling a lot and you're doing a great job! Cheering for you!

    1. It shrinks breakouts over night and reduced the amount of small under-the-skin whiteheads I get! I've spoken about it a bit more in my Autumn Skincare Routine xxx
