20 Things I'm Grateful For

Life isn't always perfect. There are so many instances where we may feel like things aren't going our way, and I think it's important that when things get difficult, we remind ourselves of all the things we still have to be thankful for. As someone who is trying to practice being grateful more often, I thought it would be nice to put together a list of just a few of the things I'm trying to be thankful for on a daily basis.

1. Tea. Nothing quite beats the feeling of sitting down with a hot mug of tea and completely relaxing. It's something that I do numerous times a day and never fails to make me feel better.
2. Sunshine. It's ridiculous how much better I feel when the sun is shining. I feel so much more positive and inspired to get things done.
3. My bed. I know that I'm very lucky to have a warm bed to get into every night and I'm so thankful that I've got a such a cosy, safe place to go.
4. My garden. Recently I've really been appreciating the fact that I'm able to sit outside and breathe in the fresh air in my own private garden, without having to put on a face of makeup and go out anywhere!
5. Pyjamas. If I'm at home, you'll most likely find me keeping cosy in pyjama bottoms and a comfy t-shirt.
6. My family. I grew up in one of the most loving households and I honestly do not know where I would be without them.
7. The NHS. Without the NHS, I wouldn't have had access to so many treatments and I am so unbelievably thankful that this exists.
8. Books. Books are my escape. They are my gateway to other worlds and my own imagination and I can't even begin to express how thankful I am that they exist. 
9. Clean tap water. Pretty much the only thing I drink is tap water, and I can't imagine how hard it is for the people who have to walk miles and miles for water that isn't even clean. I'm so lucky that I'm able to get it as easily as I can.
10. Pen and paper. I have notebooks filled with doodles, quotes, stories, pictures and memories from over the years and I love that I'm able to remember something forever in ink. 
11. Music. I listen to music probably more than I do anything else with my time and I would be so lost without it. Music has inspired me, destroyed me and saved me countless times and it's one of my favourite things in the world. 
12. Public transport. As much as I dislike being on hot stuffy buses, without public transport I wouldn't be able to go anywhere so I'm very thankful that it exists!
13. Having 3 meals a day. Similar to what I said about having clean water, I'm so lucky that I'm able to have 3 full meals a day and have such easy access to so many different, clean foods. 
14. Blankets. Whether I'm curled up on the sofa or out in the garden, you'll most likely find me under a blanket!
15. My education. Everyone has a love/hate relationship with school, and yes they are some of most difficult years for a lot of people, but we still should be thankful that we have access to an education system when there's lots of people in the world who don't have this luxury. 
16. Incredible friends. Over the past year I've learnt what real friendship looks like and I'm so grateful for the amazing people who have been there for me at every hurdle and make my life better in so many ways.
17. My health. Right now I'm happy and healthy, and I should be incredibly thankful for that. 
18. Cameras. As much as I agree with living in the moment, I'm so happy that I've caught some amazing memories on camera over the years. I love that I'm able to look back and revisit past memories.
19. Growing up with a family pet. We unfortunately lost our little dog Pippin last year, and even though that was one of the saddest times I've experienced, I'm so glad I had 14 years of my childhood with such a loveable and friendly pup.
20. My home. This is my safe place and the place where I feel most comfortable and I'm so happy that I have somewhere like this to live my life.

    I love that you're grateful for a lot of things that people commonly take for granted- like clean running water and your education.
    I'm also totally in aggreeance with pajamas (particularly winter one's right now) and tea!
