Getting out of my house is incredibly
important to me. Even if it’s just sitting in my back garden for a little while
each day, it’s something I have to make sure I do. Anyone who read my 2017 goals post will know that getting out more was my top priority for this year,
mainly due to the fact that last year I went through a bit of a rough patch and
ended up barely leaving my house for around 2 months. That was the worst thing
I could’ve done in that situation! Since I’ve started getting outside more,
I’ve seen a huge increase in productivity, motivation and just my general
happiness, so I wanted to share some of the benefits of getting outside with
anyone else who spends more than enough time inside the same four walls.
FRESH AIR WILL CLEAR YOUR MIND… If you’ve been sat
inside staring at your computer screen all day, it’s very likely you’ll have a
headache, feel groggy, tired and worn out. Even just opening a window can help
this. Sitting inside breathing the same stuffy air all day can take its toll on
your brain and body. Instead try and take your work outside if you can. Have
your lunch outside or go for a quick walk on your dinner break. On the weekends
try to get out whenever you can. Breathing in fresh air helps me to gain a
better perspective on things and come back to my work with a clearer, more
focused mind.
IT GIVES US SPACE TO THINK, AWAY FROM THE
INTERNET…
Social media and the online world are great things. We all spend a lot of our
time using them, but sometimes we need to step away from our computers! If I’ve
been scrolling through social media all day or doing endless tasks on my
computer, I feel like there’s a million and one things going on in my brain.
Taking the time to actually step away and go outdoors gives me to the
chance to focus on other things and to not be so consumed with the online
world.
IT OFFERS SO MUCH INSPIRATION… If I’m trying to
write, or brainstorm blog post ideas, or pretty much do anything creative,
going to a new environment is the best thing I can do. People watching, going
for a walk, exploring nature, all of these offer inspiration and can spark up
ideas. If you’re feeling like you’re in a creative slump, get out and explore.
It’s so healthy for both our bodies and minds
to get outside and not stay cooped up in the same environment. Since I’ve been
consciously making the effort to get out more, both my physical and mental
health have improved and I’m so much more productive than I used to be.
Do you get the same benefits from going outside?

DeleteHi Samantha, I just stumbled upon your blog and wanted to tell you that it looks really good. Having just recently started my own blog as a carer for my mum who has ovarian cancer and raising awareness of ovarian cancer, I can definitely appreciate how much time and effort it takes to make a blog look beautiful.
