Summer 2017 Reading List

Even though summer seems to be rapidly coming to a close here in rainy old england, there's still lots of books that I'd like to get around to reading, preferably out in my garden soaking up some sunshine but we'll see! My third year at university is fast approaching, I can't believe I'm back next month, and it's scaring me how behind in my reading I seem to be so I thought what better way to motivate myself than making a good ol' summer reading list. I'm hoping to get around to reading many more books than this but here are a few that are currently in my 'to be read' pile!

THE SUN IS ALSO A STAR BY NICOLA YOON
This is mine and a few of my friends book club pick for august and I'm really enjoying it so far! I'm only about 70 pages in but the story is really sweet and I'm looking forward to seeing how things are going to work out. One of my favourite things is that it gives little insights into small, random characters that we meet along the way and seems to be displaying an underlining message of not judging people which is just <3<3<3<3. Also the chapters are suuuuper short which I love so it feels quite fast paced!

BEAUTIFUL BROKEN THINGS BY SARA BARNARD
This is our september pick and I'm really looking forward to this one. I haven't read a book that was solely about friendship in a looong time and if you read my post on Why We Should All Appreciate Our Friends More, it's something that is incredibly important in my life right now!

BIG MAGIC BY ELIZABETH GILBERT
I've had this on so many lists and TBR's recently and I still haven't got around to it. I'm not quite sure why either because it's a non-fiction so it's a book that I can pick up and put down whenever I feel like it. I'm determined to read this before I start back at university because it's all about creativity and I want to start my third year motivated and excited to get some work done!

THE LION THE WITCH AND THE WARDROBE BY C.S. LEWIS
I recently read the first book in the Narnia series, The Magician's Nephew, and I loved it. I've never read any of this series before and they're children's classics so this needs to change! Plus I love the film and these books are super short so I'm pretty sure this can be done in an afternoon in the sun!

REASONS TO STAY ALIVE BY MATT HAIG
Similar to Big Magic, I'm hoping to read this as a bit of a pick me up before university. For the past two summers, I've kind of gone into a bit of a shell and it then becomes difficult when I start back at uni and have so much going on so I'd like to read this and get myself in the best possible frame of mind before I start back. I adore Matt Haig's writing so I know I will love this book and I've heard so many good things about it!

What books are on your summer reading list?
