Book Of The Month | The Humans By Matt Haig

Something that I really want to start doing on this blog is a book of the month feature! I’m always recommending books to my friends and I figured something like a book of the month would be more fun to talk about rather than just regular book reviews. Hopefully my fellow book lovers out there will find some of their new favourite reads!

So kicking of this brand spanking new feature is THE HUMANS BY MATT HAIG

‘After an 'incident' one wet Friday night where Professor Andrew Martin is found walking naked through the streets of Cambridge, he is not feeling quite himself. Food sickens him. Clothes confound him. Even his loving wife and teenage son are repulsive to him. He feels lost amongst a crazy alien species and hates everyone on the planet. Everyone, that is, except Newton, and he's a dog. What could possibly make someone change their mind about the human race. . . ?’

This book is the absolute best book I have read so far this year. It’s shot way up high on my favourite books of all times list and I think I’ve recommended it to absolutely everyone I know!
Matt Haig is a phenomenal writer. I’ve seen his book ‘Reasons To Stay Alive’ floating around the blogging world quite a bit, which I haven’t got round to reading yet, but I’m certain I’ll love anything this man writes.
Within the first few pages of this book, I was laughing out loud. It’s very rare that a book will genuinely make me laugh but this, oh my gosh, it’s hilarious. There were so many times where I got funny looks off my family from laughing out loud. If you’re looking for some comic relief, check out this book!
At the same time as it being a hilarious read, this book is also ridiculously motivating. I wish that I had some post-it notes handy when I read this book so that I could bookmark all of the incredible quotes that it contains, but I guess that just gives me an excuse to re-read it! Some of the topics that Matt Haig includes in this really hit home with me and I felt so many emotions from this book. If he wasn’t making me laugh, he was making me cry!
I feel like no matter what mood you’re in, this book will hit the spot. It’s hilarious, moving, emotional and such an inspiring read and I would honestly recommend it to everyone!

Have you read this book?
