A Few Motivational Quotes For The New Year

As always, the last day of the year has arrived before I've even finished eating the last of the festive chocolates, and tonight everyone will be celebrating the passing of another year gone by and the joy of a brand new one to come! I'll be having another quiet one this year, with a few family and friends coming round to see in the new year with good food and bubbly champagne, and I hope everyone reading this has a wonderful evening with your loved ones. I thought I would end another year of posts by sharing a few of my personal favourite motivational quotes, to start the new year off on the right foot and give anyone who needs it a positive boost. I hope you enjoy and here's to a wonderful 2019!

YOUR MIND IS POWERFUL ENOUGH TO HELP YOU ATTAIN WHATEVER YOU WANT
This is a quote I read in Michael Jackson's autobiography 'moonwalk', and it came at a time where I very much needed a push to believe in my own abilities and my intelligence. It's a quote that I think everyone needs reminding of every once in a while, perhaps when they're struggling to believe in the ability they have to achieve anything they desire.

CONFIDENCE IS A RESULT OF ACTION, NOT A REQUIREMENT
I can't quite remember where I heard this quote, *I think it was pinterest*, but it quickly became one of my all time favourites. I am the kind of person that wants to feel confident before I push myself out of my comfort zone, as I feel like I need that confidence to be able to do it. In reality, real confidence comes from pushing myself out of my comfort zone, and this is something I force myself to remember whenever I feel nervous about the things I want to push myself to achieve.

IF YOU SEE SOMEONE ACCOMPLISH SOMETHING YOU YOURSELF ARE WORKING TOWARDS, THIS ONLY MEANS THAT IT CAN BE DONE
This is a quote I bookmarked from one of Paula's posts, and I have so many more stored away on my laptop. Every time I visit her blog I leave feeling motivated and inspired, but this is the quote that has stuck with me the longest. I remind myself of it whenever I feel that stab of insecurity that comes with seeing everyone else's achievements on social media. Instead of giving in to jealousy and insecurity, I instead use it as motivation that I can achieve it too.

STOP TELLING YOUR DREAMS TO SMALL-MINDED PEOPLE
There are few worse feelings than when your eyes are alight with passion and your heart is pounding through excitement as you share all of your hopes and ambitions with someone, only to have them scoff and tell you it'll never happen. Stop telling those people your plans. Just work your arse off, and revel in their surprise when you show them that you achieved it.

WITH THE NEW DAY COMES NEW STRENGTH AND NEW THOUGHTS
This time of year is when almost everyone gives themselves new goals and aspirations to work towards, and moves forward with a positive outlook on the year ahead. This doesn't have to solely apply to new year! Every single day is a new opportunity to improve our lives, and I try my best to remind myself of this Eleanor Roosevelt quote, and maintain the outlook that new year brings the whole year round.

AND THEN THERE IS THE MOST DANGEROUS RISK OF ALL, THE RISK OF SPENDING YOUR LIFE NOT DOING WHAT YOU WANT ON THE BET YOU CAN BUY YOURSELF THE FREEDOM TO DO IT LATER
This is another pinterest quote I found, by Randy Komisar, and it perfectly describes what I discuss in this post.
I am firm believer of doing something you love. Similar to most people, I want to live a secure and financially stable life, but money has never been a career incentive for me, and I am determined to spend my days doing something that I enjoy. I never want to dread waking up on a Monday morning.

IT DOES NOT MATTER HOW SLOWLY YOU GO, AS LONG AS YOU DO NOT STOP
Another pinterest quote, by Confucius, that I discovered and have since attempted to integrate into my daily life. I am working hard to give myself the 'a little bit every day' mindset, as there are so many things I'd like to achieve, and even though some may take me years, I'd like to work my way towards them. It doesn't matter how long it takes me, as long as I don't give up.

MY DESTINATION IS NO LONGER A PLACE, RATHER A NEW WAY OF SEEING
I found this quote by Marcel Proust via ellagracedenton's instagram, and I love it. I think a lot of people see progression in life as moving from one life achievement from the next, school-university-work-marriage-kids-retirement, and whilst that's something I do want for myself, I also want to focus on the progression of myself as a human being. I want to educate myself on important topics, explore new cultures, expand my empathy, broaden my horizons, and make a difference in the world. This quote reminds of that when I find myself falling into society's monotonous expectations.

THE SINGLE ACT OF BRAVERY OR MADNESS ANYONE CAN DO IS THE ACT OF CHANGE
I discovered this quote in Matt Haig's novel 'The Humans', and it's stuck with me for a long time. I am not a person who likes change, and I struggle with it more than I should do. This quote reminds me that change is inevitable, that the majority of changes in my life have been positive ones, and that I should view change as a positive, exciting aspect of my life.

TO ANYONE WHO IS SUFFERING, HOLD ON. BETTER DAYS WILL COME. YOU WOULDN'T BELIEVE THE NUMBER OF PEOPLE WHO ARE WAITING TO LOVE YOU
This quote came to me at a time where I felt incredibly lonely, and it gave me the push I needed to remember that I wasn't always going to feel that way. I found this quote in the acknowledgements section of 'Beautiful Broken Things' by Sara Barnard, and I've never forgotten it. Whilst I may have no idea what my life will have in store for me, I know that its' constant evolvement and change will always bring new people, new experiences, and new love my way, and I'm glad I was reminded of that when I needed it.

What are some of your favourite quotes?
